SOTOGAB Marching Band
The Spirit of the Old Gold and Black (SOTOGAB) marching band performs at all home football games, a few select away football games, NCAA Bowl appearances and marching band exhibitions each Fall.
One of the fastest growing and most innovative private school band programs in the nation, the SOTOGAB is the heart and soul of the Demon Deacon cheering section, working hard every week to provide the finest example of Demon Deacon pride and the supreme demonstration of Wake Forest class. Now one of the largest bands in Wake Forest University history, and with more than one hundred years of tradition, SOTOGAB is the oldest college marching band in the state of North Carolina. Students from around the world, every level of academic growth, and from nearly every major field of study, make us the largest team in the Athletic Department and one of the most diverse organizations on campus.
Auditions are not required in order to participate in SOTOGAB. In fact, many of our members have never marched, spun a flag or even played an instrument. Yet, through the desire to achieve and the needed hard work... there is a place for everyone who wants to be a part of SOTOGAB. Obviously, SOTOGAB is a highly visible performing ensemble. Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is required. SOTOGAB rehearsals are normally only 4 hours per week (T/TH) except when there is a home football game. On game days, an extra rehearsal may be scheduled prior to kick off.
SOTOGAB illuminates gameday with unparalleled pride, energy and enthusiasm. It is our "passion that defies explanation" and our loyal support of the Demon Deacons that makes us who we are... The Spirit of the Old Gold and Black!
